Pacific Paradise Trail Costa Rica

Day 1

Transfer from the airport to your hotel in the quiet village of Junquillal on the Pacific Ocean. Meet with your tour guide at dinner time.

Day 2

Ride north along the beach to Hacienda Pinilla’s famous Golf Course. On the way, climb several bluffs to enjoy amazing views of the coastline. Visit on horseback the beaches Playa Negra and Avellanas, which are famous for their surf. Choose amongst fresh seafood dishes during a lunch break in the shade of Guanacaste’s marvelous trees. Pass horse trails in teak plantations, see tropical birds, and canter with your horse along the Golden Pacific Coast.

Day 3

The horse ride starts along the beach and heads past a typical Costa Rican village, after which you will climb on your horse trail the hilly back land to take in an impressive view of the countryside. Ride amongst huge trees while monkeys, iguanas, tropical birds and butterflies keep you company. Enjoy Costa Rica’s hospitality with a home-made lunch under a traditional rancho prepared by Dona Ginette (who likes to show equestrian guests how to make tortillas on her wood stove). Fried plaintains with black bean sauce, chicken stew and rice pudding replenish the horse riders for the ride home. End the day galloping on the beach.

Day 4

A day to relax or explore. If Costa Rica’s amazing flora and fauna are calling you, we can help you arrange a day trip to take a canopy tour through a rain forest, visit an active volcano, hike through a nature reserve to explore caves, kayak in a mangrove, or see exotic birds and crocodiles on a boat trip. For those who want to relax, there are massages, sunbathing by the pool or on the beach, tennis courts, estuary tours, snorkeling, surfing, golfing, or deep sea fishing.

Day 5

The group will ride to working cattle and horse breeding farm. Get to know the history of Spanish (Pura Raza Espanola) horses in Costa Rica. You will enjoy a Horse Show that presents the local horse races doing their famous high-stepping as well as working horses and the gaited horses from Central America and their comfortable gaits. In the afternoon, the horse ride is along the beach and across the estuary.

Day 6

Travel from Junquillal to Ostional in a truly unique fashion: riding your favorite horse along the gorgeous, isolated beaches of Guanacaste’s coast. Enjoy the powerful surf crashing on rock formations as you arrive at your second hotel. Change your riding clothes for a bathing suit, savor a chocolate martini and a view of the sunset, and reflect on your memorable rides in a jacuzzi.

Day 7

Another chance to take advantage of the rich biodiversity of Costa Rica, in case you couldn’t get to everything you wanted to on day four. Swim with turtles and pet their hatchlings, book a river tour, or just have a pina colada in the pool and relax.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport or other destination.
